Who doesn’t love an ironic superhero crossover?

Shawn Ashmore, known for his role as the mutant Iceman in the early 2000s iteration of X-Men films, will be donning a superhero cape once more — this time, in the upcoming second season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys.

The Boys follows the story of a ragtag group of wayward vigilantes, working to fight back against the corrupt superheroes that the world has been fooled into idolizing.

Ashmore will be portraying an original member of the Seven, Lamplighter, who retired before season 1 began — hence the vacancy on the team that Starlight filled. Lamplighter harbors the power of pyrokinesis through his staff. As mentioned in the first season, he’s the one that killed former CIA agent Grace Mallory’s grandchildren, which was also the event that caused the giant rift amongst the Boys originally.

Season 2 will find the Boys on the run from the Supes and the law, Billy Butcher reeling from the discovery that his wife is still alive, Homelander at odds with the newest member of the Seven — Stormfront, and the added garnish of … Supervillains. Catch the first three episodes of season 2 of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video on September 4. The remaining five will drop on Fridays through October 9. Meanwhile, the new after-show, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, will begin airing on August 28, hosted by Aisha Tyler!
