It’s official – Harry Styles has hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Watermelon Sugar”! After a week of campaigning culminating in Watermelon Sugar Day, Styles’ fans catapulted the single from number seven last week to number one. Billboard shared some interesting stats about the new chart accomplishment, which is only the second single from a former One Direction member to hit number one. The first was Zayn Malik’s “Pillowtalk” back in 2016. “Watermelon Sugar” is also number two on the Radio Songs chart, matching his previous record for “Adore You.” This isn’t Styles’ first foray into the top 10 on the Hot 100; “Adore You” peaked at number six, and “Sign of the Times” peaked at number four.

Both Styles and Malik also become the only members of One Direction to record a number one single either solo or with the band, since One Direction hit number two with “Best Song Ever” (the group has six top 10 hits total). Styles has had nine songs chart on the Hot 100: “Watermelon Sugar,” “Sign of the Times,” “Adore You,” “Lights Up,” “Falling,” “Cherry,” “Golden,” “Sweet Creature,” and “She.”

Styles has had quite a month, with “Adore You,” nominated for several awards at the VMAs and his partnership with Calm amid the “Watermelon Sugar” frenzy. His video for “Adore You” also became his second to hit 100,000,000 views on YouTube, a major milestone, while the single charted at number 12 for this week.
