‘The Boys’ Are Back, Bloodier and More Diabolical Than Ever, in the Official Season 2 Trailer

Share:

Following the release of the teaser trailer and an insane teaser clip back in July, the official trailer for season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has finally been released.

In the aftermath of season 1, the Boys have found themselves on the run from the law, being hunted down by the vengeful Supes that they’ve managed to piss off one too many times. Billy Butcher is temporarily MIA, as we last saw him reeling from the knowledge that his wife is indeed still alive (and happens to have a child), having been unceremoniously dropped on her front lawn by Homelander. Butcher will regroup with Hughie, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko in the second episode, and we can expect to see an exclusive short film that will detail his diabolical adventures in the interim.

Meanwhile, Homelander will find himself engaged in a power struggle with the newest member of The Seven, Stormfront (portrayed by newcomer to the show Aya Cash). And of course, to absolutely nobody’s surprise, there’s another issue waiting just on the horizon — Supervillians.

Watch the official season 2 trailer below.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Butcher as he explains that his wife is still alive. We pan to a shot of him looking at a piece of paper with various notes about her house and the neighborhood it was located in, which means that Homelander will likely remove him from the scene before he’s able to reconnect with Becca, and he’ll end up on a mission to find her again.

Other notable appearances include Giancarlo Esposito’s mysterious new character and Butcher’s bulldog, Terror. The tension between Stormfront and Homelander is palpable, though it seems that they’ll embark on a twisted Supe recruitment mission to combat the Supervillian threat. Meanwhile, despite the fact that Butcher quite literally shot her at the end of season 1, Annie/Starlight will apparently be teaming up with the Boys at one point or another.

And, because this is The Boys, this trailer leaves no doubt that season 2 will be jam packed with action, explosions, and gratuitous amounts of blood (… and whale guts … lots of whale guts.)

The first three episodes of the explosive second season of The Boys will drop on Amazon Prime Video on September 4. The remaining five will be released weekly through October 9. And don’t forget, there will be a brand new after-showPrime Rewind: Inside The Boys — hosted by Aisha Tyler, starting August 28!
