The Hargreeves siblings are back!

Season 2 of the hit Netflix series The Umbrella Academy based on the comics created by Gerard Way is set to hit the streaming service Friday, July 31 and Netflix has released a sneak peek of the opening scene.

Season 1 left off with the Hargreeves failing to stop the Apocalypse, but escaping it themselves thanks to the time traveling prowess of Number Five (Aidan Gallagher). Season 1 was full of chaos, and we can only assume season 2 will bring us the same levels, but likely more.

Number Five arrives first … in 1963 … to Texas, which has been turned into a literal war zone — tanks and soldiers fill the destructed streets as jets fly overhead. Confused is an understatement as he wanders the streets looking for answers, finding it on a strewn newspaper. The Soviets have attacked the United States.

“What the hell did we do now?” Well, that’s the question Number Five … Cue the siblings and their superhero arrivals. Vanya (Ellen Page) a.k.a the White Violin arrives first, stopping a tank round dead in its trajectory and is quickly followed by Klaus (Robert Sheehan), who has a much better grasp on his powers of mediumship and evocation as he summons an army of dead soldiers to fight the Soviets on the streets. Luther (Tom Hopper) then flies from the skies, bellowing as he Klaus from a blast. Of course, as we saw in season 1, Ben (Justin H. Min) is never far behind Klaus, and the ghost of Ben is using his tentacular powers to take out the enemies surrounding his living siblings. Finally, Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) arrives, showing off a side of her powers we haven’t seen before as she quite literally blows a few Soviets minds … into smithereens. Diego (David Castaneda) rounds out the crew with his cat-like reflexes and high-flying bullet-dodging acrobatics.

Number Five runs towards his siblings, but is quickly stopped by Hazel (Cameron Britton), our favorite time-traveling assassin, who warns him that those things flying towards them in the sky? Those are nukes, and he’s gotta go. Number Five has seemingly checked off another of his infinite lives as Hazel rushes him away to save his siblings another day and in another time period.

Season 2 is set to be a wild ride, with a bit more insight and action into the Hargreeves siblings and exactly what these powers they possess can do. You can watch all 10 episodes when they drop on Friday, July 31 on Netflix.
