Creators AJ Mendez (Crazy Is My Superpower) and Aimee Garcia (Lucifer) have come together and launched Scrappy Heart Productions. This is not their first collaboration as the pair also writes a series of comic books based on the Netflix series GLOW, about women in wrestling.

In an exclusive with Variety, Garcia talks about the mission they want to be a part of.

“Our mission at Scrappy Heart Productions is to create the change we want to see in media. As American Latinx storytellers, we are dedicated to developing diverse stories with universal themes that will make you laugh, cry, and fill our comments section with face-palm emojis.”

You can see Garcia in the upcoming fifth season of Lucifer on Netflix as Ella Lopez and in the forthcoming rom-com Match Me If You Can, and Mendez is a former WWE champion and mental health advocate. Some of the future work they have listed on the website include East Side Saints and Dungeon & Dragons comics.

For more information, you can follow Scrappy Heart Productions on Twitter, Instagram, and their website.
