Big Finish Productions continues to bring fun new audio dramas for Doctor Who and Torchwood fans to enjoy!

Big Finish Productions announced the upcoming releases to five new Torchwood audio dramas to be released later this year, starting with Red Base in August 2020! They will continue monthly after that with Ex Machina in September, The Three Monkeys in October, Rhys and Lanto’s Excellent Barbecue in November, and concluding with The Crown coming in December. Tom Price, Kai Owen, Naoko Mori, Eve Myles, John Barrowman, Burn Gorman, and Gareth David-Lloyd return to reprise their characters in the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood. You can read the full synopsis of the upcoming releases below.

The official synopsis and preview for Red Base by James Goss are:

Mars is the next giant leap for mankind. Starr Base is the first small step. A practice Mars base has been set up in a quarry in Neath, just off the A474. It aims to see if humanity can survive on the red planet. The problem is that the crew are dying. The survivors are terrified, paranoid, and wondering if something alien has got inside Starr Base. Sgt Andy Davidson has come to find out what’s gone wrong.

Alfie Shaw brings us the September release
Ex Machina:

Ianto Jones is Torchwood. Ianto Jones is the defender of a deserted city, a lone crusader who keeps the empty streets safe. One day he meets one of the few survivors. She needs his help – because she’s being chased by a darkness. A darkness which says it loves her.

Then in October, we get The Three Monkeys by James Goss

Andy Davidson’s been ordered to watch over a local businessman. Everything’s always gone right for him, and Andy’s long wondered why. Owen joins him on the stakeout. He knows something – the businessman’s attracted Torchwood’s attention, and tonight, the two of them are going to take him down. But will luck be on their side?

The synopsis for the November release, Rhys and Ianto’s Excellent Barbeque by Tim Foley says:

Rhys is planning a lads’ night in. Barbie in the back yard, few tins, mates, and bants. But the only person who turns up is Ianto. Who hasn’t been invited. Hell is other people, especially when they’ve brought board games. Something goes wrong. The two of them could be trapped together for eternity at a barbeque where the sausages never cook, and worse, the brewskis remain forever out of reach.

Last but not least the synopsis for the December release, The Crown by Jonathan Barnes Says:

The Ferryman stands in shadow and waits. The Ferryman giggles, hungers and hates. The Ferryman comes to carry away all who behold the crown and disobey Christmas Eve. Dr. Gideon Parr is summoned to an asylum to check on a patient. A patient who claims to be hunted by a terrible curse. A patient who claims to be Queen Victoria.

These releases are all available to pre-order individually for download from the Big Finish website. If these audio dramas are anything like what Big Finish Productions have given us previously, they’re bound to keep you hooked from beginning to end. Stay tuned as more cover photos will be released later this week!
