The Eighth Doctor Is Stranded on Earth in New Big Finish Audio Drama

After fighting the Daleks, the Ravenous, and the Weeping Angels, The Doctor is facing his worst fear: being stranded on Earth in London 2020. In this brand new audio drama called Doctor Who: Stranded, The Eighth Doctor is stuck in Baker Street with his companions Helen Sinclair and Liv Chenka. The first volume of Doctor Who: Stranded is out today!

Paul McGann, Hattie Morahan, and Nicola Walker are back as The Eighth Doctor, Helen Sinclair, and Liv Chenka, respectively, from the previous Big Finish’s Eighth Doctor adventures. They are joined by Rebecca Root (Tania Bell), Tom Price (Sergeant Andy Davidson from Torchwood), and Clive Wood (Mr Bird). Tom Baker (The Fourth Doctor) is also back as the mysterious Curator from the 2013 Doctor Who episode “The Day of the Doctor.” Big Finish newcomers Avita Jay and Amina Zia as the Ahktar sisters, and David Shaw-Parker and Jeremy Clyde as Ron and Tony are appearing as guest stars.

Joel James Davison, son of Peter Davison (The Fifth Doctor), is making his Big Finish debut in Doctor Who: Stranded.

Doctor Who: Stranded will consist of four volumes: the second, third, and fourth volumes will be available in March 2021, November 2021, and April 2022.

Doctor Who: Stranded 1 is composed of four stories:

Lost Property by Matt Fitton

Trying to find a way to resume his travels, the Doctor calls in some old favours. As the residents get to know the new arrivals, something else finds its way into Baker Street, seeding suspicion. Helen meets a man with a very familiar face – and a terrible warning.

Wild Animals by John Dorney

After weeks of London living, some of the TARDIS crew are finding it easier to adjust than others. Liv has found a new friend, but Helen is worried about the Doctor. And when a tragic crime takes place, the Time Lord must learn the limits of his powers.

Must-See TV by Lisa McMullin

There are new arrivals in Baker Street: Sergeant Andy Davidson and the helpful Mr Bird. The Doctor isn’t happy that someone else in the house is more useful than him. When the residents’ TVs start to malfunction, he suspects foul play. Someone is watching…

Divine Intervention by David K Barnes

As the Doctor becomes desperate, Helen and Liv advise him to accept their situation. Liv makes a date – but gets more than she bargains for when the whole household comes along. And when a threat from the future finally arrives, the Doctor is placed in real danger. It’s time for the truth to emerge…

Producer David Richardson added:

“We’d always intended ‘Doctor Who: Stranded’ to be focused on characters, and what’s been lovely is that as we got underway, and saw these characters and actors inter-relating, it made us realise the endless possibilities we have to play with. The dynamics are wonderful – for example, you can just pop Liv and Andy into a scene and let them talk, and it’s golden. And beyond our main team of five, there’s also the extended family who live at Baker Street – like Ron and Tony, who have been together for decades, and have a secret of their own; sisters Aisha and Zakia, whose lives will be changed forever by the time travellers; young Robin, continually abandoned by his work-addicted dad, who will befriend Helen. The more we explored this large ensemble, the more excited we got – we’ve found, I think, a very different way of telling Doctor Who stories.”

Doctor Who: Stranded 1 is available to purchase as a collector’s edition CD box set or on download from the Big Finish website.  Listeners can save money by purchasing a bundle with the four volumes of the series.
