‘Normal People’ Stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones Appear on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’

With the phenomenon that is Normal People quickly becoming one of the most talked about series of 2020, the stars of the acclaimed show visited James Corden virtually to discuss their roles and the reaction to their performances. Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays Marianne, and Paul Mescal, who plays Connell, both told Corden about the unexpected consequences of their sudden fame despite the lockdown. Both also talked about filming the show’s notorious sex scenes, and Mescal noted that they weren’t as fun to film as they are to watch due to the crew watching and the awkwardness of it all.

Corden, a massive fan of the series who early on urged people to watch via Twitter. Took the opportunity to express his admiration of Edgar-Jones and Mescal’s performances as well as the writing, saying that he hoped both would be able to celebrate the success of the series together once quarantine restrictions are lifted. Corden also challenged Edgar-Jones and Mescal to a live chemistry read, playing random clips from assorted TV shows and films and challenging them to recreate their major chemistry using the lines from the clips.
