Netflix is continuing to bring original movies starring some of the biggest Hollywood actors to our screens. Arriving July 10 to the streaming service is The Old Guard. It’s being adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Leonardo Fernandez for Image Comics.

Charlize Theron will be playing the main character, Andromache of Scythia, or better known today as Andy. Andy is immortal, living thousands of years. Andy fights along other immortal soldiers throughout history. The movie will be set in present day as the group of soldiers fight the bad guys and protect the good. Of course, there will be more to that story with thousands of years weighing on the soul.

The Old Guard will be produced by Theron and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The other immortal soldiers will be played by Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin), Matthias Schoenaerts (Red Sparrow), Luca Marinelli (Trust), and Kiki Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk). The struggle will not just be facing immortality, but also facing two people figuring out who the soldiers are and how to use them. Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Harry Melling (Harry Potter franchise) will play the characters targeting the soldiers.

No doubt we will be seeing an amazing story rich in history and filled with equally amazing action sequences.
