“How well can you ever know anyone?”

The words of Mark Bomback — writer, showrunner and one of the executive producers — define the very core of the new series based on the bestselling novel Defending Jacob airing on Apple TV+ beginning next Friday. Based in a small Massachusetts town, a family is shattered when their 14-year-old son, Jacob, is accused of murdering a classmate.

Starring Chris Evans (also an executive producer), Michelle Dockery, and Jaeden Martell as Andy, Laurie, and Jacob Barber, the series follows along as they try to overcome their son’s accusation, while maintaining their own faith in one another. Today, exclusively on E!, a first look featuring the show’s three main stars, Bomback, and director/executive producer Morten Tyldum was released.

Evans’ teases a cliffhanger ending for each of the show’s eight episodes, which are set to release with the first three on April 24 and one each subsequent Friday through May 29.

It also stars Pablo Schreiber, Cherry Jones, Betty Gabriel, and Sakina Jaffrey. It will be available exclusively on Apple TV+ and will require a subscription.
