The First Trailer for ‘Tales From the Loop’ Is Here

Tales From the Loop is a new show coming to Amazon Prime Video and is based on the art-book with the same name by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag. It takes place in a city right above what is known as “the Loop,” a huge particle accelerator built in the 50s and 60s. Stålenhag’s original setting is Mälaröarna, a Swedish suburb in the region of Stockholm, and the art-book contains spectacular works that blend growing up in the 80s with the strange events, machines, and the weird creatures that comes with living on top of the Loop.

This TV-show is not the first spin-off that Stålenhag’s creations have received. Tales From the Loop (original title Ur Varselklotet) has also been turned into a table-top role playing game by the publishing company Free League. The system allows you to play characters of your own choice in either the Swedish setting of Mälaröarna or the American setting of Boulder City, NV. The trailer for the TV-show does seem to indicate that they may have gone with the American setting instead of the original Swedish one, but all the fantastical elements of the original artwork are absolutely present.

Not much else is known about the actual plot and characters in the story, but the cast consists of Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Duncan Joiner (Waco), Nicole Law (Warrior), Daniel Zolghadri (Eighth Grade), Tyler Barnhardt (13 Reasons Why), Jonathan Pierce (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl), and Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation), amongst others.

Tales From the Loop premieres on Amazon Prime Video on April 3, and you can check out the trailer below!

Despite having been a fangirl for as long as she can remember, it wasn’t until Emelie left the security of her hometown in the north of Sweden for the hustle and bustle of Gothenburg, that she found her tribe and really immersed herself in fandom. She currently works as second line field engineer tech support, and shares her home with cats Loki and Stiles. In her free time you can find her either playing Dungeons & Dragons 5e, or on Twitter (@killingnormalcy) yelling about Critical Role, Marvel, Twenty One Pilots, and Overwatch.
