Riverdale fans have been hit with a double-whammy after TVLine confirmed that Skeet Ulrich (F.P. Jones) and Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge) will both be leaving The CW drama after the show’s current season. F.P. has been stepping up as a father figure to Archie after Fred’s death this season, as well as continuing being the sheriff and a Southside Serpent while also supporting Jughead’s transition to Stonewall Prep. Although Hermione hasn’t been in too many episodes, as Veronica and Hiram have been dealing with their rum war, she was the one to tell Veronica about her father’s condition.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed the departures to TVLine in a statement, saying: “Part of life in Riverdale — and part of growing up — is saying goodbye to people. I’m grateful to Skeet and Marisol for their incredible work on the show these last four years, and we all wish them well on their future endeavors. F.P. and Hermione will never be far from our hearts. And, of course, they’re always welcome back in Riverdale.”

Currently, it doesn’t even seem like either character would be leaving the show, but that will soon change. There’s no telling how both will depart, but with Jughead’s apparent death and Hiram’s deteriorating health, it could play a part in F.P. and Hermione’s decisions to leave the town of Riverdale. Both Ulrich and Nichols are leaving to pursue other projects. And unfortunately, while we’re on the subject, fans have been known to give some of the fathers on the show the nickname of “Hot Dads of Riverdale,” and with Fred gone and F.P. leaving, it seems Tom Keller will be the only one remaining that fans can still swoon over. The show definitely won’t be the same without F.P. and Hermione.

Season 4 of Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, with a fifth season recently announced.
