The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are This Saturday!

It is almost time to find out the winners of this year’s fourth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The live-streamed award show will air on Saturday, February 15. This year the awards are sponsored by the leading Japanese snack food industry Bokksu.

The show will be live-streamed from the Crunchyroll’s HQ in San Francisco, CA and hosted by their own Tim Lyu and WWE Superstar Xavier Woods, also known as Austin Creed. You can watch the awards on the Crunchyroll website homepage and their social media platforms, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch pages.

Presenters this year include King Vader presenting Anime of the Year, Gibi, Miranda Sanchez, Connor Colquhoun, Anthony Carboni, SungWon Cho, and more. Fans will also get to see the President of Wit Studio, George Wada, accept the award for Industry Icon.

To get ready for the awards, they are hosting a 24-hour, five-day marathon of fan-favorite shows, including some of the nominees on Facebook and Twitch until Friday, February 14 at 6 p.m. PT. Shows fans can see during the marathon include Mob Psycho 100 II, Sarazanmai, The Rising of the Shield Hero, My Roommate is a Cat, KONOSUBA -God’s Blessing on this wonderful world!, Girly Air Force, and more.

The award show this year has received over 11 million votes, a significant increase from the 5 million received last year. The categories for the awards are:

  • Anime of the Year
  • Best Animation
  • Best Opening Sequence
  • Best Ending Sequence
  • Best Boy
  • Best Girl
  • Best Score
  • Best VA Performance (JP)
  • Best VA Performance (EN)
  • Best Director
  • Best Character Design
  • Best Protagonist
  • Best Antagonist
  • Best Fight Scene
  • Best Couple
  • Best Drama
  • Best Fantasy
  • Best Comedy

There will be six Crunchyroll watch parties that fans can attend in Sydney, Australia; São Paulo, Brazil; Richmond and Toronto, Canada; and Fort Worth and New York City, USA. There will also be two contests for fans to participate in: one on Twitter for a giveaway from Bakksu, and the other will take place on the Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube live-chats where they can win one of three custom-made Crunchyroll-Hime skinned Xbox consoles by posting the hashtag #himexbox.
