After numerous successful projects in 2019 like her role in Knives Out, Velvet Buzzsaw and of course the Netflix drama Unbelievable, Toni Collette has landed yet another role in a crime drama with the title Pieces of Her. According to exclusive reports from Deadline, Collette will play the role of Laura Oliver.

The Netflix production is an adaptation of the thriller novel with the same title by author Karin Slaughter and tells the story of a mother and daughter who are involved in an active shooter situation which starts to unravel several events from the mother’s past, leading into the revelation of a long-hidden, former identity.

Slaughter has written over twenty best-selling thrillers and crime novels, most of them in her “Grant County” and “Will Trent” series. Known for her realistic and brutal story-telling, she manages to combine techniques of modern crime-solving with tragic, but engaging characters. Pieces of Her will be the first filmed adaptation of her work.

The show will span over eight episodes, with an all-women creative team, including executive producers Lesli Linka Glatter, Charlotte Stoudt, and Bruna Papandrea. It will be directed by Minkie Spiro. There has been no announcement about a possible release date yet.

Conny joined her first fandom at the tender age of three and somehow never stopped finding new things to obsess about and love. Her current love is everything Marvel, especially two characters who tend to be frozen at one point or the other. From Drag Race to Harry Potter or musical theatre, as long as it makes her smile (or cry), it’s probably her thing.
