In a surprising move, Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for New Mutants today.

The movie wrapped filming in 2017, but its release has been postponed several times due to other productions and other issues. With the trailer finally arriving today, fans can look forward to a Marvel movie that is firmly stated to be in the horror genre.

The film follows the story of the superhero team New Mutants who have been part of the Marvel comics since the 1980s. In the film, five young mutants discover their superpowers in a secret facility in which they are involuntarily held. They team up to escape, help each other and to escape from their past.

Furthermore, the film stars an incredibly diverse and famous cast, starting with Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams, Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton, Antonio Banderas, and among others, Looking For Alaska star Henry Zaga. The trailer promises a refreshing new look at the X-Men origin stories, it seems gritty, terrifying, uncanny — all good ways to show Marvel’s further exploration of the canon now available to them since the 21st Century Fox fusion.

The movie is set to be released on April 2 this year. Check out the trailer below:

Conny joined her first fandom at the tender age of three and somehow never stopped finding new things to obsess about and love. Her current love is everything Marvel, especially two characters who tend to be frozen at one point or the other. From Drag Race to Harry Potter or musical theatre, as long as it makes her smile (or cry), it’s probably her thing.
