The long-awaited attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has now opened in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The attraction will see you join a secret mission for the Resistance. However, your transport will be captured by the First Order but luckily Resistance fighters (including Rey and BB-8) will be on hand to give you a chance to escape. This is one of the largest attractions Disney has created and is said to be very immersive.

Disney has announced that it will be using a virtual queue system due to the anticipated popularity of the attraction. To join the virtual queue you need to use the My Disney Experience app and join a boarding group. This allows you to explore the rest of Hollywood Studios whilst waiting for your turn to experience the ride. Providing your push notifications are turned on, you will be alerted when your boarding group has been called and you will then have two hours to make your way to the attraction. You should still expect to queue within the show building and Disney also warns that joining a boarding group does not guarantee that you will be able to experience the attraction. There is currently no word on whether the virtual queue is a permanent feature of the attraction or whether it will just be in place for the high traffic following it’s opening.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will also open at Disneyland on January 13, 2020.
