Is this the second coming, or just a brilliant con-man?

That is what CIA agent Eva Geller (Michelle Monaghan) has to ask herself in the coming Netflix series Messiah, as a man called Al-Masih (Mehdi Dehbi) emerges into the public eye due to the public disruptions he causes. As he travels the world through seemingly strange means, Geller tracks him to try and uncover the truth behind the man and his origins. Al-Masih claims to have been sent to do God’s work, he amasses followers everywhere he goes and the world is split in two camps: believers and non-believers. As the show progresses we will also see the events unfold from several different perspectives. We meet a preacher’s daughter (Stefania LaVie Owen), an Israeli intelligence officer (Tomer Sisley), a Palestinian refugee (Sayyid El Alami), and one of the journalists tasked with covering the story (Jane Adams).

Messiah premieres exclusively on Netflix on January 1, 2020. Watch the trailer below!

Despite having been a fangirl for as long as she can remember, it wasn’t until Emelie left the security of her hometown in the north of Sweden for the hustle and bustle of Gothenburg, that she found her tribe and really immersed herself in fandom. She currently works as second line field engineer tech support, and shares her home with cats Loki and Stiles. In her free time you can find her either playing Dungeons & Dragons 5e, or on Twitter (@killingnormalcy) yelling about Critical Role, Marvel, Twenty One Pilots, and Overwatch.
