On Friday, Jim Beaver announced that he officially joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film Nightmare Alley. The film will also star Bradley Cooper, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, David Strathairn, Ron Perlman, and Richard Jenkins among a large ensemble cast.

Nightmare Alley is based on the novel by William Lindsay Gresham. It follows the rise and fall of a con man (Cooper) at a traveling carnival, who uses his talent for manipulation to fool the public with the help of a psychologist (Blanchett). But will the two mentalists out-duel each other in their greed?

The novel was adapted for film once before in 1947 and starred Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell. The new film has been in the works for several years and was originally set to star Leonardo DiCaprio. Filming is set to start in early 2020. There is no release date yet.
