Arrow star Stephen Amell and his cousin, Robbie Amell (The Flash), have been working on their new movie, Code 8, for some time now, using an Indiegogo campaign to receive funding. The project was fully funded two days after launch and over 1000% entirely funded. The two launched the campaign in 2016 and wrapped filming in 2017. From April through June this year, the movie has had screenings in multiple cities across the country and a few international dates for the campaign. Now, an official release date has been announced, along with its first trailer.

Code 8, written by Chris Pare, is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with some type of supernatural ability, but instead of being superheroes, they are heavily policed and live in poverty. Robbie plays Connor, a powerful and young “electric” struggling to pay for his ailing mother’s medical treatment. To earn money, he joins a lucrative criminal world led by Garrett, played by Stephen, who teaches him how to use his powers to pull off a series of increasingly dangerous crimes. Last month, Deadline reported that Vertical Entertainment required the rights to the film, which is directed by Jeff Chan and also stars Sung Kang (Fast & Furious) and Greg Bryk (Ad Astra).

You can catch Code 8 when it hits theaters on December 13. For more updates on the film, check out the Indiegogo page here.
