With just over two months until the release of the eagerly awaited Frozen II, Disney has revealed the newest and most complete trailer, giving a glimpse of several new characters and settings. The first teaser trailer, released earlier this year, held the number one spot for most views of an animated movie trailer in 24 hours (beating The Incredibles 2) and anticipation is high. The film promises to delve deeper into the mystery of how Elsa got her powers, with the trailer showing the Enchanted Forest that Elsa seems to have a mysterious connection to. It also appears to be darker than its predecessor, with Elsa struggling to contain her powers and glimpses of several battle sequences (though it finishes with a lighthearted Olaf scene sure to make fans of the snowman happy.)

Disney’s official synopsis released with the trailer states:

“Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen II,” she must hope they are enough.”

Frozen, released in 2013, held the number one all-time box office record for an animated film until this past summer, when it was dethroned by Disney’s Lion King remake. It won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for (“Let It Go.”) The sequel features returning actors Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana alongside new characters voiced by Evan Rachel Wood, Alfred Molina, Sterling K. Brown, Martha Plimpton, Rachel Matthews and Jason Ritter.

Frozen II will be released in theaters November 22, 2019.
