Broadway’s current smash hit, Moulin Rouge–a musical inspired by the 2001 film with the same title–has an official cast recording and it’s released today!

Only a month after its Broadway premiere, the musical is loved by critics and fans alike. Following the movie’s original idea of using well-known and loved pop songs and transferring them into musical numbers, it tells the tragic love-story between writer Christian and courtesan Santine.

Christian is played by Aaron Tveit, who is known for his roles in Broadway classics like Next To Normal, Wicked, and Les Miserables. He has played the role in the musical since its first run in Boston last year, and has rightfully been praised for his interpretation of the character. Santine is played by Karen Olivo, who has starred in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s debut musical In The Heights, along with Hamilton and West Side Story.

The original cast recording released today includes classics from the 2001 film, but also new additions like “Shut Up And Raise Your Glass” (a mix between “Shut Up And Dance” and “Raise Your Glass”) and “Crazy Rolling” (a mix between “Rolling In The Deep” and “Crazy”).

You can check out the cast recording on all the usual streaming sites today, so don’t wait!
