The countdown to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War continues with only 50 days until the movie is released in theaters on April 27th (49 if you manage a Thursday night showing). In preparation for the upcoming film, Entertainment Weekly has assembled 22 Heroes and one Mad Titan on 15 different covers for their special edition issue, on stands Friday, March 9th. You’ll want to collect them all because when ‘assembled’ they create one large image of all the heroes (and villain) against a background of the Avengers ‘A.’
And the individual covers are pretty awesome on their own.
I find the choices of which heroes to pair together on many of the covers to be interesting. For example, why did EW put Nebula with Scarlet Witch or Shuri with Vision? Was it an aesthetic choice or is it perhaps foreshadowing the various team-ups that we will see in the film? Maybe it is as simple as making the most marketable covers, given that Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Ironman, and Thanos are all solo on their covers. In any case, every cover is a brilliant work of art and the true collector will want all 15.
As a side note, this marvel fan would have liked to see Loki on one of these covers, but as none of us are ever sure what role he will play in the grand scheme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s not surprising that he was left off. He is obviously not an Avenger, even if interests may align with them (or Thor) at any given moment.
Avengers: Infinity War will assemble in theaters worldwide on April 27th.
