It’s official – NBC has officially cancelled Timeless after one season. This is a big mistake for NBC – and it’s evident in how big of a fanbase Timeless already has. Right after the announcement, Timeless was trending on twitter, with lots of fans upset at the news.

Supernatural‘s creator, Eric Kripke, co-created this series with Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and the show stars Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer, Malcolm Barrett and Goran Visnjic. Kripke is no stranger to strong fanbases, and we loved seeing all of the #RenewTimeless posts on Twitter from fans hoping to save their favorite show. They came together to coordinate rewatches of the show, post about it on social media as much as possible and more.

The fans also won a USA Today poll, which asked which show should be saved. Timeless won with 49% of the vote.

The show is where a group (Lanter, Spencer and Barrett) travel through time each episode, to all different significant historical events. The three main characters, Wyatt (Lanter), Rufus (Barrett) and Lucy (Spencer) join together to track down a criminal (Visnjic) who has stolen a time machine and is intent on changing the past. They’ve also had some special guest stars in episodes, including Sean McGuire (Once Upon A Time), Shantel VanSanten (The Flash) and Supernatural actors Misha Collins and Jim Beaver.

This show had so much promise and so much left to explore with these characters. In an period where television is driven by a lot of reality shows and medical and crime dramas, this show was like a breath of fresh air. The performances of every actor on the show were great and perfectly cast. The writing was solid, especially when you have to make sure things are historically accurate. I found myself excited to see what they’re going to do next, and how they’re going to portray certain time periods.

While it’s a disappointment for so many people – we want to say thank you to the creators, actors and crew for giving us one great season of this show.
