Covers With Friends: Featuring the Cast of Supernatural

Covers with Friends is the latest project from singer songwriter Jason Manns, which was released today. Manns has had his music featured in Supernatural, has released a Christmas album with members of the cast and also performs at Supernatural fan conventions. The album has been highly anticipated by fans for months and the ten track album is already climbing up the charts on iTunes.

On June 22, 2015, Jason launched a campaign through Kickstarter to fund the new project and with the help of fans over ten thousand dollars had been raised in 48 hours. By August 21, 2015, the campaign had been fully funded. Throughout the fundraising, Jason kept fans updated with guest announcements, the first being Rob Benedict. Rob is best known for his role of Chuck Shurley on Supernatural, but he is also the lead singer of the band Louden Swain. The next guest that was announced was Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester on Supernatural. Jensen has graced fans with several musical performances during fan conventions and was also featured on Manns’ Christmas album. Also featured on this album are Supernatural alumni Gil McKinney, Richard Speight Jr., and Michael Rosenbaum who is best known for his role as Lex Luthor on Smallville.

Tracks featured on the album include Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Simple Man’, ‘Mad World’ by Tears for Fears, and ‘The Weight’ by The Band. Prior to the albums release, Mann’s reached out to fans once again to ask them for one last favor for the project. In addition to helping spread the word about the album, Jason revealed that he had talked to Jensen about doing his own music and what kind of project he would like to release, which is something fans have been hoping for for years. Jason stated, “I’m not saying it’s a done deal by any means, as he’s a pretty busy dude, but I can tell you that it interests him a great deal.”

Jason asked for fans to promote ‘Simple Man’- the track that Ackles sings on the album – in hopes that the support would encourage Jensen to give consideration to pursuing a musical endeavor of his own. He asked fans to start tweeting with the hashtag #getjensentonumber1 in hopes to push Simple Man up the iTunes charts.

Currently Covers with Friends is at number 18 on the overall iTunes charts, number two on the rock charts, and Simple Man is at number 14 under songs in the rock genre. Fans are continuing the hashtag campaign throughout the weekend and are also using the platform Thunderclap to tweet the hashtag #getjensentonumber1. If you would like to show your support via Thunderclap, you can do so here!

Covers With Friends is currently available on iTunes, cdbaby.com, Amazon Music, and BandCamp.
